Goals of the Association for Retarded Citizens

The ARC programming will:

Promote the general welfare of the mentally retarded wherever they may be.
Develop programs in behalf of the mentally retarded.
Encourage research related to the aspects of mental retardation.
Advise and aid parents in the solution of their problems regarding mental retardation and the public.
Cooperate with all public, private and religious agencies and professional groups in the furtherance of these events.
Serve as a training site for students at local universities.
Serve as a means for high school students to engage in community service.
Allow for the development of typical peer relations with its clients.
Provide a support system for families and community members at large.
Educate the community about disabilities, and the availability of services provided for individuals with disabilities.
Encourage and promote our clients to become contributing members of our society by maximizing their physical, spiritual and mental health.
